Ron Paul is interesting to me because he votes pretty consistently according to a set of publicly stated principles, which is more than you can say about a lot of politicians. I think that enough of his political views are well outside the normal range of acceptance to most registered Republicans that he is going to have a hell of a time winning in the primary elections unless he can garner significant support from unlikely voters. I believe this is the perception/strategy as well within his campaign. His supporters have done a significantly better job of "marketing" him online to under targeted/under represented demographics than the other major campaigns. The $ he was able to raise on Nov 5th was pretty startling, but ultimately he is going to have to get people to the polls. One technique that interests me is that his campaign web page prominently provides details on how to change listed party affiliation, in order that people normally listed as Democrats might swing the Republican nomination in his favor.

Probably hard to believe, but I had no idea that Ron Paul supporters were using the 5th of November as a fundraising tool until I received an email about it a few minutes ago.

Free minds sometimes think alike. At least they don't have to.
