Christmas 2006
May this day and this season bring lasting joy, peace, and gratitude.
And now, my favorite Christmas Hymn, What Child Is This:
What Child is this, who laid to rest
On Mary’s lap is sleeping?
Whom Angels greet with anthems sweet,
While shepherds watch are keeping?
This, this is Christ the King,
Whom shepherds guard and Angels sing;
Haste, haste, to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.
Why lies He in such mean estate,
Where ox and ass are feeding?
Good Christians, fear, for sinners here
The silent Word is pleading.
This, this is Christ the King,
Whom shepherds guard and Angels sing;
Haste, haste, to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.
So bring Him incense, gold and myrrh,
Come peasant, king to own Him;
The King of kings salvation brings,
Let loving hearts enthrone Him.
This, this is Christ the King,
Whom shepherds guard and Angels sing;
Haste, haste, to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

The tune typically played with this Hymn is “Greensleeves”, a beautiful and haunting traditional English tune (its pretty old – perhaps 8th or 9th century, definitely been around since the middle ages) made famous by Vaughan Williams, an English composer of the 20th Century.

Merry Christmas! I shall now totally ruin the mood by posting a link to my Christmas comic that makes absolutely no sense unless you know the characters and storyline.
