Seventh Grade
was the last time I cried.
I played Frisbee this morning, starting around 11:00 (it actually started at 10, but I had a late night). I had one really incredible catch, but I couldn’t seem to throw it right at all. Hopefully things will be back in order by Monday for the men’s game we have then.
In other news, I want the NBA playoffs to start.
Today I awoke at the rude hour of 6:30 AM to head north to Steven’s Pass with Kunlun and his Boeing friend Alex. Last night, I visited the parents to pick up my skis and ended up staying for a good chat as well, but that lasted until about 12:30. By the time I got home and ready for bed, I only had about five hours of sleep ahead of me.
Kunlun picked me up his his shiny new yellow Mazda3 (News flash: Courtney just got a shiny new purple Mazda3!), and we headed to Mill Creek to pick up Alex on the way to the Pass. Alex had some sort of discount that got me $12 off the $52 price tag (yeouch!), so that worked out well for me. We his the slopes about 9:30 in the AMs.
It is Kunlun’s second season snowboarding, but only Alex’s first, so Kunlun and I spent a lot of time waiting around until Alex bit it kind of hard and decided to rest off the cobwebs while Kunlun and I went to the backside of the Mountain to get ourselves a real workout. I managed to not fall once, which was good because I managed to forget my jacket — my outer layer was my newfangled Titan Robotics Club sweatshirt, which got a few lift operators excited with the thought of Battle Bots. My lack of fallage also means that either I’m really good at skiing or that I’m not pushing myself hard enough. I’ll let you decide.
After skiing, we deposited a sore Alex back in Mill Creek before going to my parent’s for a scrumptious dinner. Now I am back at my place digesting as fast as I can in anticipation of a 10:30 run with Christine.
I figured that this was the last weekend I could spend having fun before school really gets going. Dinners with friends Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, some Frisbee, Poker, and Skiing thrown in, and not a bad sprinkling of homework, I think I did alright.
Yesterday I woke up surprisingly early considering a rather late night where I was only harassed by police once, so I went for a ride around Greenlake, then later down to the U-Village and back. After a truly fabulous dinner with the parents, I headed to IS for some basketball, then I wandered back home and proceeded to text message like crazy. I’m going to have to get some sort of messaging plan added, I think I’ve been using it too much recently.
In other news, today, I rode into work on a bike, after taking a bus across the lake.
I finished up my last two finals yesterday. The 305 final was hard and got moved at the last minute, but I think I did alright overall, especially considering that pretty much everyone found it hard. The 303 presentation went well, especially considering that the other group that did the same project as us made a huge mistake in their design. Props to Christine for figuring it out for us.
Now I am back to work (I took Friday and Monday off for final projects and tests). I’m looking forward to making a little money, hanging with the BioE’s at tonight’s party, and then later on, heading on over to Bobby’s for a somewhat more eclectic gathering. It should be fun.
This week started out rough. Monday night, a friend talked to me frankly about some recent behavior of mine that, while not intentional, was still inappropriate. It is never fun to hear those things about yourself, but it is necessary and good to listen nevertheless. It hit me pretty hard, and I didn’t sleep much that night as I mulled things over. The good news in my sincere apologies were accepted and if anything our friendship is stronger.
In other related, I discovered how beautiful Ravena park is when deserted at 4 am.
The next day I slept in, missed a class, and then got back to some schoolwork. By the end of the day, I was feeling like a regular person again. Long late night walks and sleeping in, I guess, are life’s little reset button.
