Bitten By The Olympic Bug

Up until about 6 hours ago, I hadn’t seen any of the Olympics this year. I more than made up for that tonight, by watching almost 6 hours straight of NBC olympic coverage. Sure, I channel surfed during the breaks, but most of the time was spent watching the athletes. Of Course, some athletes I watched more closely than others, but it the things they all do are amazing.

Today’s highlights for me:

  • Men’s Swimming Medley Relay: US Team continues its dominace with a world record time.
  • Women’s Beach Volleyball: Hot US women (Walsh and May, see above) defeat China. Take that, commies!
  • Men’s 100m dash: Three US athletes advance, each winning their heat in under 10 seconds.
  • Men’s Soccer: Iraq wins 1-0 to advance to semifinals. Shi’ites, Sunis, and Kurds in Greece all cheer together.

Too bad I wasn’t sleeping. My sleep schedule has got to be one of the most erratic out there.

I wish that I had paid more attension to the olympics this year. About 15 minutes before I had to go on guard, I hear a crap load of small arms fire. I don’t know where they get all the tracers, but, well… I guess it’s a change from fireworks.
